Pet memorial stone epitaph ideas
Finding the right words...
What to write on a pet memorial stone
Stuck trying to find the perfect words that sum up your beloved pet; that truly reflect them and helps you to remember them as they were? Well, you aren't alone.
What follows is a starting point. Take what fits, leave what doesn't, and ignore all of it if you already know what you want to say.

Simple and true
Sometimes the shortest line is the right one.
Run free
Forever loved
My good girl
My faithful friend
Loved every day
The best of us
Always in the garden
Loyal to the last
Gone but never gone
A name and dates with nothing else can be just as powerful. The stone says it all without saying anything.
A little bit them
Maybe you want to remember them exactly as they were. Not the idealised version. The actual one. The one who ate your sandwich, ignored every command, and somehow still had you wrapped entirely around their paw. If that feels more true than anything formal, it is. Some of our favourites:
Still shedding somewhere
Lived fast. Barked loud. Slept often.
Loved treats. Hated baths.
Ate everything. Regretted nothing.
Refused the dog food. Loved a sausage.
Terrible recall. Perfect company.
Gone to find the squirrels.
Small dog. Large opinions.
Never once did as he was told.
Did not come when called. Came when it suited.
The biscuit tin knew his name.
Stole the sofa. Stole our hearts.
The best memorial is the one that sounds like your pet. If the people who knew them would read it and laugh and cry at the same time, you have got it exactly right.
Something entirely your own
A nickname. A favourite walk. The thing they did that drove you mad and that you would give anything to see again. One word that only your family would understand. Those are often the best ones. And we will engrave every single one.
A note on how it works
Our engraved memorial stones take up to three lines, except the small pebble and the wooden pebble, which only take two due to size. Short lines engrave cleanly and read well from a distance. Most people go with a name, dates, and one line that is theirs alone.
